Rokal trains were controlled by a "fahrregular" (speed regulator). Alternating current power was fed into the speed controller. The controller was connected to the track, allowing operation of the trains.

Connected to each side of the speed controller were individual switch control boxes for each track switch, signal, uncoupler, and the like. The color of the control box handle indicated its type of function. The snap connections of the speed controller and control boxes both conducted electricity and connected the different components together.
