The H0-Scale fluted side passenger cars were described by Tenshodo as “corrugated side cars”. These cars had originally been made for the D-1 passenger train set which was meant for the Japanese market alone. Of course, the cars (and locomotives) found their way to the North American market for many years.
As with the smooth side H0 cars, there were eight car types offered:
- Full baggage
- Combination baggage & coach
- Dining Car
- Sleeping Car
- Vista-Dome Observation
The production number information comes from “Pacific Fast Mail... 25 Years of Fine Models” by Phil and Ruth Kohl (Craftsman Press, 1979).
The corrugated side cars were available in several road names; a key to the road names is at the bottom of this page. The corrugated side cars were also available in painted-but-unlettered (such as in the image at the top of this page), with the buyer of those cars adding their own selection of road name using commercially available decals.
